One-o-five heat index and it ain't even summer yet!

Looking at the work week, beginning on Monday, June the 13th, Tuesday still looks like the best potential for severe weather with most of the action forecast to occur to the north of the Taney County area. As for temperatures and heat indices, we will see highs in the lower 90's in many areas with heat index values approaching or slightly over 100 degrees across southeast Kansas on into western Missouri.

The focus then turns to heat for the remainder of the week. Look for increasing temperatures and
humidities. Its becoming more likely that 100 to 105 degree heat index values will be seen Wednesday, Thursday and possibly Friday, with even some 105+ possible Wednesday and Thursday. So increasing probabilities of heat advisory criteria being met for the middle part of the week for portions of the area.

As we head into the coming weekend, it looks like there will be a small break in the heat, as the upper flow becomes more northerly allowing for somewhat drier air to advect into the region from the northeast. So, although temperatures will still be in the upper 80's to near 90, humidity levels will also be down somewhat. [Excerpted from a NWS forecast for www.taneyservices.com]
